It all began because someone fell in love with a sandwich!
In 1981, Phillip A LaPorte was told by his assistant about a different kind of restaurant with hot grilled authentic Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. Phil immediately fell in love with the food and the atmosphere, and after talking to the owner, decided to buy the restaurant!
Over the next 28 years Phil, Carol and their sons, Troy and Todd LaPorte, have worked, developed, and expanded the Chartroose Caboose to three locations in Kansas City. Todd and Phil LaPorte manage and own the store on Metcalf, Troy LaPorte, owns and manages the Lenexa location and John Griffith manages and owns the store in Belton. (Pictures below.) Currently, we have no other locations outside of the KC area.
